Lush Tufted Tapestries Document Ecological Changes in Argentina’s Landscapes

On the Colossal blog, I found Alexandra Kehayoglou’s work on Argentina’s grasslands very stunning. The work Prayer Rugs depicted animal footprints fo the Parana Wetlands near Buenos Aires. The region’s biodiversity has recently been decimated by wood and paper industries. This has led to non-native, invasive plant species spreading out of control. On Kehayoglou’s tapestries, you can begin to see how the brushery of the native plants is swept away for more invasive species.
