Hannah Höch was a German Dada artist who is best known for her photomontage work. She is considered one of the originators of the photomontage. Many of her collages explore gender and identity. While she was producing work, many of her male counterparts viewed her work as amateur and didn’t consider her an actual artist. Höch’s humorous compositions reminded me of the work we did last week with our photo collages. I really enjoy her work and think the way she uses collages to distort faces makes for some very interesting compositions.
