Pleated Garments and Movement

The lines in this dress seem to float in midair and look like they are drawn around the model. It doesn’t look like fabric at all, and the lines across her face make the model in this image look like a painting. The artist was inspired by organic and inorganic shapes as well as her background as a dancer. In class, we discussed how to effectively create movement, and the lines in this piece remind me a lot of the groupings of lines that many of us made in our Gestalt Field recording.
